Rollin On E

Story Time -

Have you ever been going and going an not paying attention to other things? Have you ever felt like you really gotten to know something but then don't take account for the other things around?

Well, if you know by now then you're probably laughing lol.

Yesterday, as we were leaving Nac I looked at the fuel gauge and then I looked at the miles we had left before empty. An thought, we're good. Not so much.

I was thinking about the other things we had to do, and we were in a time crunch. Also, I was thinking that we should make it home just in time and my wife could use the Yukon to do the other things that were important.

What I didn't take account for was how much fuel was actually being burned while we had our trailer set up and I was in the office (truck) with the AC on lol. The other thing I didn't take account for is how much fuel was also evaporating or disappearing due to the extreme heat.

So when we were on our way home, maybe a 2 min drive away, the truck started coughing, choking, gurgling, etc; lol.

That's when my wife and I looked at each other an said, we need Diesel.

My wife gets on the phone and calls our son, get the Yukon ready because we might need your help. We need diesel. He states, you ran out of gas pulling the trailer - lol. Right at that time I noticed we are at the back of a gas station and that they had Diesel. By this time, we are in Neutral and costing.

We pull in just to start seeing that there are Red Bags on the handles, and of course on the diesel handles lol.

We end up coasting to one that, you guessed it, happened to be covered.

I started thinking, maybe if I put it in park and try to crank it, I may can swing around to one of the couple pumps that didn't have a bag on it, nope - didn't happen. I get out look at the reverse side of the pump where a truck was sitting, he wasn't getting gas. It wasn't covered, I asked if the pump was free and it was. All I needed was for the hose to reach, it did. My wife then told my son never mind in which he was bummed - lol - he couldn't come save the day or drive lol. We made it home.

What I learned about my truck; when it's hot enough to cook eggs on the pavement and I have been in the office with the ac, and the fuel light comes on - even if the miles show plenty, just go ahead and get fuel.

You never know if you find yourself 'Rollin On E' pulling into a gas station that has no fuel for you to get and on the phone with someone saying come help when your destination is 2 minutes away, lol!
